Catherine Sollman

Catherine Sollman was born in Racine, Wisconsin. She holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

In her work, she explores themes of isolation and melodrama, working within a framework of dystopian and alien landscapes. The uncontrolled proliferation of matter, both desirable and undesirable, figures prominently. Her work is characterized by humor and simplicity, and by meditative, deliberate patterns and repeated motifs.

Catherine lives in Chicago with her husband and two children. She is currently preoccupied with rock piles, distance swimming, Wisconsin State Parks, and the music of Philip Glass.
